Berdorf on-line topo
Please read this page carefully, before proceeding to the topo
itself!
Until recently, no topo of the Berdorf crags had appeared anymore in
printed form sinds 1981. A major reason was that a topo just makes a climbing
area more popular. Due to closures and restrictions of Belgian and German
crags, Berdorf has become rather popular among climbers who do not originate
from Luxemburg. In some weekends the crags (especially the easier ones) are
completely overcrowded. There are not that many crags in Berdorf. So, some
groups will not be overjoyed with the publication of a Berdorf topo.
Why then this on-line topo?
Euhhh ...., we don't have a really
good reason, but why do we climb mountains? Just because they're there.
The editors of the Dutch Climbing Homepage at www.climbing.nl have been offered a topo of
Berdorf multiple times. Amongst Dutch climbers several versions of such a topo
exist. Because we expect that the publication on internet of these kind of
topos cannot be stopped, we decided to put this topo on our site, so we could
at least add this warning page to the topo.
So, please, don't let this on-line topo be a reason to go (more often) to
Berdorf!!
Don't spoil it for other climbers and keep to the
rules!!
The crags of Berdorf are situated in a nature preservation
area (see picture below), which is not waiting to be harrassed by climbers. So
go climbing in a gym, take a long holiday to
France or Italy, but stay away from Berdorf as much as possible.
